After working over 20 years at Richmond-Llandovery, Luke was finally ready to move-on. He accepted an improved position at Drax Hall, a few miles across town and he moved there with his family. Not long before before Luke made his move, Beryl had used her savings to buy a tavern in Montego Bay, making a decent income from its liquor license and room rentals. She moved away to oversee and operate the business and Luke's move therefore also marked the end (for many years anyhow) of having Mom's steady hands constantly at home. At the time of that move, I was about to start high school, Liz was about to begin college, later on Raymond and then Douglas would go Technical College. So the years at Drax Hall also marked the foundation of the careers and future lives of all Luke's children
